The ROC Team’s focus is the inclusion, participation and empowerment of people who have been marginalised and excluded.

The Recovery and Opportunity Co-ordinators support the local services in which they are based, working jointly with residents in services and Opportunities colleagues, co-creating accessible learning and social activities, meaningful opportunities and a range of group work. This can be anything from residents producing a zine, painting a fence, going fishing, mindfulness or cooking lunch: what’s important is that it’s done together.

What’s Happening at ROC

Just Being

Right then. What shall I do?

Not always an easy question to answer and maybe a bit more complicated in these strange times we find ourselves living in.

That being the case why not share with each other what that something might be… walking barefoot in nature; making the perfect cup of tea; remembering to breathe or maybe just enjoying doing nothing in particular!

This is the idea behind ‘Just Being’ videos… Anything that you find can bring a bit of joy, peace or silliness, break up the day, make you smile or simply change your focus for moment. If it works for you it might also help someone else out so why not make a short video to share?

The Archive Project

In 1975, Stuart Clark negotiated the use of a property in Pimlico to house himself and five other men, rough sleeping and homeless. Two years later, Single Homeless Project, became a registered charity and Stuart its first employee.

As origins go, it's difficult to imagine, a more inspiring peer-led story, and equally, how this kind of scenario could happen again in the world we now live.

The Archive Project seeks to empower people using services to reflect on the journey of SHP in the run up to its 50th Anniversary and to think more widely about housing, homelessness and inclusion then and now.

The project will support people to conduct research themselves on the issues that matter to them. It seeks to make its findings accessible and above all keep people's voices front and centre. After all its the stories and people that matter.
