We understand that most of our clients want to work in the future, but we know that you might need a little help and that’s where our team of Employment Coordinators come in. We assist with a mix of structured Group Workshops and personalised One to One Support.

For a lot of our clients, it may mean undertaking training or additional learning that would support your employability goals. The program empowers participants by providing them with the knowledge, skills and confidence.

Achieving Potential ~ Participant Story

Stephen lives in one of SHP’s supported housing projects. He had been meeting with his Keyworker for support for 6 months when he decided he wanted to see what his job options might be. He began working closely with one of the Employability Teams, and started accessing online courses as well as SHP’s own Employability workshops. Stephen identified security work as a goal, and was supported and funded to take the relevant training and obtain the required industry card. Stephen is now working a part time security role at a local warehouse, a role brokered by his SHP Employment Coordinator.

“I didn’t expect this to happen so quickly. I’ve always normally look backwards. You’ve help me look forwards. Thank you!”

Achieving Potential ~ Participant Testimonial

The reason why i joined to SHP due to get that support that courage and confidence. I went to the ETE workshops I learn a lot and then it made me 100% sure what career I want to do which i dream of 5 years ago. When i first started my journey i was very nervous and scared i was thinking can i do it but now i see a change of myself I have become stronger and focused on my career. I want to follow my dream and that is becoming a nursery teacher. They helped me apply for professional clothes through dress for success for my interview and I will now be starting an apprenticeship in September and i thank ETE support workers for their help.

Achieving Potential ~ Participant Testimonial

I am a 44-year-old with 4 children. I have made a mistake in my life and been in prison. Recently I got released and was struggling to cope with Covid and life after being away. Abdul was my support, he’s been amazing and helped me with finding jobs and helped me get funding for my travel to go to an interview. Now I’ve got a job working as a beautician. I am grateful for the support I received from Abdul, he was a good listener and without him I’m not sure where I would be. He is helping me with finding jobs but also supporting me emotionally with the loss of my brother recently to Covid. All I can say is he’s been amazing and thank you.
