Wilderness Practice With Our Greenhouse Project & ROC Teams

As the cold weather sets in we have been enjoying sharing weekly outdoor wilderness practice skills at two residencies in Islington; Arundel and Ashley Road.

Along with Georgina Morris (Team ROC, Islington) and Steven Nally (Ashley Road Support staff) we have already enjoyed warming, fun and delicious events around the fire in these lovely big gardens.

As we have sat around the fire, residents have expressed an interest in cooking meals wrapped in tin foil in an underground 'oven pit' as well as jacket potatoes on the fire. Residents have taken the lead on these activities; planning, preparing, cooking and eating.

The slow food process has allowed plenty of time for creating a positive social space in the gardens of residencies. With residents popping out for a chat, to enjoy the food and to find out what is happening.

It has also allowed a great space for conversations on what residents would like to do in the future, whether that be further wilderness practice activities or other activities or opportunities.

I'm looking forward to more wilderness practice experiences to fill the winter months with a warm, comforting glow.
